When reading books by other authors, I feel invited into the world of the writer, where I am welcome to stay for a while, to wander and fantasize with the author. It is an adventure, which allows living more than one life.
In writing and illustrating “The Doll” I felt like creating a new world – or maybe I was also created – and experienced a miracle, which I will want to repeat. I did not even notice how I wrote the text, but it surprised me that I got stuck with illustrations. What could be simpler then illustrating your own text? It proved far from being a piece of cake. This being my trade made it even harder.
I have lived for a while in this world until it discovered its smell, colours and mood. Now the book lives its own life, and I feel part of this written-drawn reality.
1976-1983 studied at M.K.Čiurlionis Art School.
1984-1990 majored in ceramics at Vilnius Academy of Art.
2000 became a member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association.
She is a free lance artist.

The artist has given over 50 solo exhibitions, most if them together with the artist Marius Jonutis.
2012 diploma from the Lithuanian Most Beautiful Book Competition for the book “The Doll”.
2012 Patriots Prize in the category of children’s book for the book “The Doll”.
