Spirgutė’s secret wish

Šarūnė Baltrušaitienė, Viktorija Ežiukas. Spirgutės slaptas noras (Spirgutė’s secret wish), Vilnius: Alma littera, 2025. – 32 p.
The story follows a girl named Sigutė, more often called Spirgutė. She lives with her mother and dreams of having a larger family – especially a father. Spirgutė is imaginative and full of unusual ideas: one day she invents “hair gymnastics,” another day she experiments with new ways of swimming. She decides to look for a father in the park, where many men walk about – but none seem quite suitable… Suddenly a new adventure begins when a neighbour named Wind bursts into her home with a hamster called Lightning! In short, Spirgutė’s life is full of endless adventures. Young readers will also find a playful activity suggested by Spirgutė herself – the game “Dream Train,” complete with instructions. Ežiukas’ wonderfully imaginative illustrations make the story even more lively and playful.
