Pūkis and the Jay

Vytautas V. Landsbergis, Dalia Karpavičiūtė. Pūkis ir kėkštas (Pūkis And The Jay), Vilnius: Dominicus Lituanus, 2024. – 24 p.

In the 17th book of the adventure series of Pūkis the fox, Vytautas V. Landsbergis (b. 1962), the renowned Lithuanian writer, film director, playwright, poet and bard, follows two main characters: a little fox and a jay. The book depicts their conversation (and reveals a secret!), unfolding a small but significant piece of wisdom and helping young readers better understand the natural order of the world and human relationships. It is a special kind of allegory which by the end of the story blossoms into a beautiful garden, inviting readers to embrace the jay who had become an outcast because of his particular qualities.

The series’ illustrator, graphic artist Dalia Karpavičiūtė (b. 1972), creates a memorable visual language for young readers, which is easy to understand and allows them to follow the story and experience many adventures.
