The young generation theatre director Povilas Makauskas (b. 1992) graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre with a degree in theatre directing in 2016, something he went on to build onto with gaining creative experience in Italy and Spain.

Makauskas made his debut on the professional stage in 2014 with the performance Yolo created on the stage of the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre, in which he spoke about the continuous history of war. On the list of works by this director there are eight performances created at the State Youth Theatre, Kaunas National Drama Theatre, Lithuanian National Drama Theatre and the Balcony Theatre of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.

One of the latest performances by Makauskas is Mano fėjų herbariumas (My Fairy Herbarium, 2019) directed at the Kaunas National Drama Theatre based on the book by French authors Benjamin Lacombe and Sebastien Perez. It is a story about a botanist Alexander who sets off on a journey to explore nature and discovers not only its beauty but also fabulous creatures living in plants, fairies. The outer fantastical journey through the mysterious woods intertwines with the story of the inner character maturing. This story, filled with enchanting images, reminds us that we are all part of the stunning natural world. It tells us not to lose touch with a flower or a tree, to pause, to listen carefully, to look closer and to open ourselves to the magic of nature.
