Call for applications for Round II of the Translation Funding Competition 2025-2026 is now open.

Applications will be accepted until May 5, 23:59 Lithuanian time.


IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW BEFORE COMPLETING YOUR APPLICATION

Please do not close the application window without completing the application form and clicking on the “Submit Application” button. If you close the page without submitting your application, your data will not be saved, and you will have to start from the beginning. We strongly recommend that you prepare in advance to avoid this happening:

  • a concise presentation of your publishing house
  • a list of translations published by the publishing house in the last two years
  • a list of distribution channels and partners for the publication
  • a concise description of the publication’s marketing activities
  • a concise justification of the need for the project (relevance of the translation of the publication)
  • a brief justification of the translator’s professional qualifications and motivation to translate the publication

and the documents to be submitted as compulsory annexes to the application:

  • a copy of the contract or other written agreement with the author(s) or copyright holder(s) of the publication
  • a copy of the contract or other written document with the translator(s) of the publication
  • a free-form description of the translator’s professional activities and a list of the works translated, or a link to publicly available information, free of charge, on the translator’s professional activities and the list of the works translated
  • a free-form covering letter certifying the accuracy of the information given in the application and its annexes. The application covering letter must be signed by the head of the applicant legal entity or by a person authorised by the applicant legal entity, accompanied by a copy of the power of attorney or other document
  • “the ‘Single Undertaking Declaration’(download form)*

If you submit documents in a language other than English (or Lithuanian), please make sure to attach a translation of the documents into English (or Lithuanian). These translations do not need to be certified by a notary public as being a true translation from one language to another.

Changes to the application

  • The addition of new points to the Description of the Procedures has led to the need to include questions in the application form that did not exist before. Answering them is essential.
  • There is one compulsory document that will need to be attached to the application. This is “Single undertaking declaration”. Its purpose is to check whether your company and its related legal or natural persons (if any), together forming a single economic entity, have benefited from small amounts of State aid from any EU country, i.e.de minimis aid, and, if so, whether the amount of such aid does not exceed the limit for such aid (€300,000 over a three-year period). The requirements for de minimis aid are laid down in the European Commission Regulation (EU) No2023/283 of 13 December 2023, so anyone applying for state aid from an EU country is required to complete and submit this declaration.
  • The “Single Undertaking Declaration” is signed by the head of the undertaking or a person authorised by him. If the company is not related to any other legal or natural person in the ways listed in the declaration, the date of completion of the declaration, the position of the signatory, the name of the signatory and the name of the person signing the declaration must be entered and the declaration must be attached to the application as a mandatory annex.

How much and which costs can be financed?

  • Up to 100 % of the translation costs of the publication or illustrated children’s publication, provided that they do not exceed 70 % of the total publication budget
  • Up to EUR 1 000 of the publishing costs for illustrated children’s books and graphic novels. This amount may be used to partially reimburse the costs of copyright acquisition, editing, layout, design and/or printing.

When can I expect to receive funding for a publication?

  • If the publication is to be published in the same year as the funding, a one-stage funding agreement will be concluded between the publisher and the LCI, whereby the full amount of the project will be transferred to the publisher after the publisher has accounted on time for the full duration of the project and has sent, at its own expense, 6 copies of the publication specified in the funding agreement together with a completed  act transfer and acceptance.
  • If the publication is planned to be published in a year other than the year in which the funding is granted, a two-stage funding agreement shall be concluded, whereby up to 60 % of the amount of the funding shall be transferred to the publisher, after the publisher has accounted on time for the use of the funds in Stage 1, and the remainder will be transferred to the publisher after the publisher has accounted on time for the whole duration of the project and has sent, at its own expense, 6 copies of the publication specified in the funding agreement together with a completed  act transfer and acceptance.
