Lithuania opened the National stand at the Leipzig Book Fair 2017
Lithuania, the main focus of Leipzig Book Fair 2017, started its exciting and busy exhibition program.
Leipzig, 22nd February 2017. Today’s press conference opens the 2017 Leipzig Book Fair, and presents the exhibition program of Lithuania, the main market focus of this year. More than 60 events have been organized to present this country, its history and its current political situation, without leaving aside its art production, such as photography, textile design, music and theatre scene.

Lithuanian books will be presented in Hall 4 D 300 in the exhibition’s ground floor, while a further stall in Hall 3 G 400 will be entirely devoted to Lithuanian graphic art. Here, some students from the Vilnius Art Academy will be hosting a workshop on creative thinking. The main program of authors’ talks and book presentations will take place in OstSüdOst Forum, Hall 4 E 505, as well as in different locations around the city.
During the opening press conference, the Vice-Minister of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, Gintautė Žemaitytė stated: “We are proud that 26 new translations have emerged thanks to the cooperation between Leipzig Book Fair and 15 German and Austrian publishers as well as different translators. The contacts between authors and translators, publishers and cultural institutions of our countries have grown stronger. Lithuanian literature is now a new unmissable point of interest for German book market. May this exhibition be a great opportunity for dialogue and understanding between Lithuania and Germany! ”
