In the Museum of Contemporary Art of Leipzig – the works of two Lithuanian artists
(Deimantas Narkevičius. “A Tang of Lomo Film”)
On the 19th of November the Museum of Contemporary Art Leipzig (Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig) is opening the exhibition “The Present Order”. Among other works this exhibition presents two famous Lithuanian contemporary artists Deimantas Narkevičius and Artūras Raila.
“The Present Order” is going to be opened till the October 2017. “A Tang of Lomo Film” by D. Narkevičius is going to be presented from the opening, the “Libretto for Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller” joins the exhibition on March.
The intention of the exhibition “The Present Order” is to examine the role of a museum within the context of current changes in the social and political field. The exhibiion focuses on key issues regarding the GfZK collection, complemented by loans from private as well as public collections. The collection explores the relation between art and history, the art market and art criticism, and politics and society.
“The Present Order” presents the works of Willi Baumeister, Carlfriedrich Claus, Hanne Darboven, Carola Dertnig, Ilya Kabakov, Martin Kippenberger, Dorit Margreiter, Ernst Wilhelm Nay, Neo Rauch, Maya Schweizer, Tilo Schulz, Rosemarie Trockel, Andrea Fraser, Deimantas Narkevičius, Helga Paris and Florian Pumhösl.
The participation of Lithuanian artists in this exhibition is the part of program of the Lithuania – focus country of the Leipzig Book Fair in 2017
“The Present Order” is curated by Vera Lauf and Franciska Zolyom. Vera Lauf has selected the Lithuanian artists for this exhibition while participating in the Experts Visiting Program of the Lithuanian Culture Institute.
