The Lithuanian Culture Institute, together with the Lithuanian Cultural Attaché, implements the M. K. Čiurlionis Jubilee Year programme abroad.
150 years ago today, Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis was born, a musician and painter who is today regarded as the most famous Lithuanian artist who ever lived and the most important figure in the history of Lithuanian national culture. His wide-ranging creativity and activities laid the foundations for professional Lithuanian art and music, embodied the aspirations of a resurgent nation, and linked them to the most relevant European artistic trends of the time.
