Čiurlionis Quartet
The Čiurlionis Quartet represents the finest tradition of chamber music making in Lithuania. Named after Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis (1875-1911), a founding father of the country’s art, the quartet has been active since 1968, and operates under the auspices of the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society.
With around 80 concerts annually, and a repertoire of more than 300 works, the Čiurlionis Quartet has earned a reputation in Lithuania and abroad as one of the most dynamic and technically advanced quartets, praised for a beautiful tone, subtle nuances and convincing expressiveness. It focuses primarily on classical, romantic and contemporary music, from time to time venturing into jazz and world music.
