The piano trio FortVio began their existence with a bang, with victories in competitions. Every time the musicians (the violinist Ingrida Rupaitė, the pianist Indrė Baikštytė and the cellist Povilas Jacunskas) embarked on a new piece, they showed little interest in the performance standards set by established performers. On the contrary, they behaved like curious restorers wiping the dust of outdated views off the scores, looking for a genuine, authentic sound with youthful sincerity. Nonetheless, the virtuoso trio, who all have a perfect musical education, directed their efforts at achieving stylistic artistry, and eagerly attended specialist-led master-classes. However, the knowledge they acquired merely complements their intuition and temperament, rather than overshadowing it. This is why FortVio concerts are always ingenious and vigorous. The ensemble have revived the disappearing tradition of performing compositions from different eras in the same concert (the recent tendency has been to present a certain style or artist), in this way creating new contexts and a distinctive logic and dynamic to the programme.

The  FortVio piano trio was formed in 2006, winning several international competitions the same year (the Stasys Vainiūnas Piano and Chamber Ensemble Competition in Vilnius, and the 13th International Johannes Brahms Competition in Portschach, Austria). In 2008, the trio won second place in the Third International Sergey Taneyev competition. In 2012, the ensemble became an active member of the ECMA (European Chamber Music Academy).
