Lamp: SUN-set / SUN-rise
Created: 2011/2017
Manufacturer: EMKO

This is one of the newest products from EMKO, created in cooperation with the young Lithuanian designer Barbora Adamonytė (born 1991) while she was pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, where she began developing an interactive lamp that was awarded the RedDot Design Concept Award in 2014. That same year it was awarded the Lithuanian Good Design prize. While creating the concept for the lamp, the designer sought inspiration from the variations in sunlight, its colours and her own emotions during the dark days of winter. The illumination of various points along the rainbow-like surface can change (to emphasize or to create anew) the sense of space: from the cold sunlight of morning to the red-orange shades of evening.

B. Adamonytė-Keidūnė is a product designer, graduating from the Design Department at the Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2016. Her designs focus mainly on compact objects and household goods, creating also ceramic and food design objects. In observing and exploring her surroundings, the routines of daily life, and her own emotions, the designer experiments, searching for minimalist and innovative solutions to improve our everyday lives. The designer actively participates in exhibitions, competitions and creative workshops.  She also teaches at institutions of higher education.
