OPEN CALL FOR THE RESIDENCY PROGRAMME FOR CURATORS AT SODAS 2123

SODAS 2123 and the Lithuanian Culture Institute announces an open call for international curators and cultural managers to participate in a month long residency program in Vilnius. The residency provides an opportunity to conduct research of the Lithuanian art scene and aims to encourage international cooperation and long-term, sustainable partnerships. Resident will be offered a professional program that allows to meet with Lithuanian artists and cultural managers, visit cultural organisations and devote time for independent research. 

Resident will be provided with: 

  • Free accommodation, a studio apartment in the SODAS 2123 cultural centre in Vilnius; 
  • Allowance for food (depending on the duration of the residence, the amount allocated for the 30-day residence is 1140 Eur); 
  • Travel expenses to and from the Sodas 2123 residence in Vilnius are covered. 

The duration of the residency 

  • Up to one month 2022 November 

Participant will be selected according to the following criteria: 

  • Candidate’s motivation to study the Lithuanian art field;
  • Candidate’s goals and opportunities for future cooperation with Lithuanian artists and institutions internationally; 
  • The purposes for which the research material of the residency is going to be used.

Accommodation 

The selected resident will be living at the studio apartment (27-square-metre individual room with a shared kitchen and bathroom) in Sodas 2123, about 15 minutes’ walk from Vilnius’ Old Town, in the neighbourhood called Rasų Kolonija. Buzzling cultural complex is located in a repurposed old school building, with over 50 artists’ studios, rehearsing studios for bands, offices for design, film and visual arts organisations, exhibition spaces, event spaces, various workshops, a café and public outdoor garden space.

This residency programme, co-organised with SODAS 2123 cultural centre, is part of Lithuanian Culture Institute’s Study Visit Program for foreign art and culture professionals. The Program aims to strengthen international ties, encourage international projects and exchange, as well as to help the Lithuanian artists and culture professionals to get established in international networks. 

SODAS 2123 cultural centre is a self-governing community-based space, operated and curated by the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association. It brings together creators and researchers from different fields, with practices based on experimentation, developing unexpected formats, and responding to the latest cultural, social, geopolitical and ecological issues.  www.sodas2123.lt
