The pianists Rūta Rikterė and Zbignevas Ibelhauptas have been performing together since 1989, and over this time have performed practically the entire piano duet repertoire. However, more importantly, this duo develop artistic concert programmes, initiate opuses specifically composed for them, and liberate Classical pieces from clichés of interpretation. Their performing style is characterised by textual precision, inspiring imagination, and the joy of playing. Rūta Rikterė and Zbignevas Ibelhauptas both graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, and in 1991 won the main prize in the International Piano Duet Competition in Rome. These pianists propagate 20th-century music, with a special reverence for contemporary Lithuanian music. The duo are regularly invited to participate in music projects in Lithuania and abroad, and have performed in Italy, France, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, Japan, Canada, and other countries.
