In my works there is no sharp line between what is intended for children and what for adults. Pictures in children’s books are viewed by mom and dad, grandma and grandpa, but also by critics, historians and students…My goal is to interest them all, not to leave any of them indifferent.

Born: July 24, 1949, Mediniskiai village, Lithuania.
1968 – 1973 Studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts, Lithuania.
Since 1980 he has lived in Warsaw, Poland.

FIELDS OF ACTIVITY
Stasys Eidrigevičius (Stasys) works across a stunning range of genres and media: painting, photography, book plate, poster, book illustration, performance, object, film and theatre. He has created his own genre of the mask and the smutki (‘sorrows’). Jacques Debs made the film “Bouzkachi: the Song of the Steppes”, in which Stasys played the role of the artist himself.
EXHIBITIONS
The artist has held over 100 solo exhibitions all over the world. He has illustrated over 40 books, mostly for children. Stasys Eidrigevičius has illustrated numerous books by all the best loved Lithuanian authors writing for children, as well as the most beautiful Lithuanian and foreign fairy tales, making his name synonymous with the world of fantasy, mystery and miracle. In 1984, the internationally celebrated children’s book illustrator Stasys Eidrigevičius was included in a Japanese encyclopedia of the best children’s book illustrators in the world.

1973 Medal of Honour at the 6th International Modern Book Plate Biennial in Malbork, Poland;

1979 Gold Plaque for children’s book illustrations at the Brno Book Art Biennial, Czechoslovakia; Honorary Mention at the Exhibition of Small Graphic Works in Lodz, Poland;
